Filtration

Water filtration is a process in which water is purified by passing through a porous material that retains particles, impurities, bacteria and/or other contaminants present in the water. This process is used to purify water and make it suitable for human consumption or for other specific uses, such as the protection of certain household appliances.

Reverse Osmosis

Reverse Osmosis is a filtration process that, through several stages, eliminates the different impurities and mineral salts present in water up to 95% (TDS: Total Dissolved Salts, measured in ppm [1 ppm=”10″ mg/l]).
With your Reverse Osmosis equipment you will enjoy water that you can drink directly from the tap and use for cooking, improving the taste of food. You will enjoy coffee and infusions with all their flavor, creaminess and aroma. You will get a healthy water with low mineralization, ideal for low sodium diets that keep your body, skin and hair hydrated.

Frequently Asked Questions

Reverse osmosis is a filtration process that removes impurities from water, such as minerals, bacteria and other substances, using various filters and a semi-permeable membrane. The water passes through the filters and the membrane, leaving the impurities behind and providing water with water of weak mineralization, of the highest quality, transparent and free of tastes and odors.

Doctors and nutritionists suggest drinking between 1.5 and 2 liters of water per person per day, which translates into a minimum consumption of 7 liters per day for a family of 3 or 4 people. Given that water quality varies by region in Spain, an osmosis system offers several advantages: it provides low-mineral, sodium-free water, consumes very little energy, has an 8- to 10-liter storage tank that fills in less than two hours, is easy to install and maintain, and its compact size allows it to be installed under the sink.

Reject water in an osmosis system refers to the water that the system removes during the filtration process to ensure maximum purity of the osmosis water. This reject water, which contains unwanted salts and minerals, is removed to prevent them from reaching the drinking water. Water rejection is necessary to maintain effective filtration and prolong membrane life.

In our latest Bbagua equipment, the rejection ratio is lower and lower, optimizing water consumption.
For example, our Efficient equipment consumes 1 liter for every liter of pure water produced.

Water pressure refers to the force with which water flows through pipes and treatment equipment. In reverse osmosis systems, this pressure is essential as it drives the water through a semi-permeable membrane, separating impurities and producing pure water. For optimum performance, most osmosis equipment requires a minimum pressure of between 2.5 and 3.5 bar. If the pressure is insufficient, the system may not operate efficiently and an additional pressure pump may be required.

Some equipment incorporates such a pressure pump.

It is essential to ensure that the household water supply pressure is within the range indicated on each piece of equipment.

Maintenance consists mainly of changing the filters according to the manufacturer’s recommendation and periodically checking the system to ensure proper operation.

The life of a filter varies depending on the type of system and the water quality in your area, but it is generally recommended to change filters every 6 to 12 months. Reverse osmosis membranes can last 2 to 3 years.
It is also recommended to clean and sanitize the system at each consumable change.

The answer depends on your specific needs:

  • Reverse osmosis: It is ideal if you want to remove as many contaminants as possible; it removes impurities and mineral salts present in the water up to 95%. And if the water quality in your area is low or if you want to have high purity water.
  • Water filters: These are recommended if you are looking for a cheaper and simpler option to improve the taste of water and remove chlorine, sediment and some basic contaminants. They are easier to install and maintain, and offer excellent water quality for drinking and cooking.

Filtered water pitchers use an activated carbon filter and other filtering materials to remove chlorine, improve the taste of the water and reduce the presence of heavy metals. However, Bbagua water filters, such as Natural Light or Filter Fresh, offer a more convenient and economical solution, as their cartridges last between 6 to 12 months, compared to the 2 months that filtered water pitcher cartridges usually last. This means fewer replacements and less expense in the long run.

In addition, the costs of Bbagua cartridges are considerably more affordable.

Also, Bbagua filters are designed to be installed directly on the faucet or under the sink, which saves space and provides easier access to the filtered water, unlike jugs, which require manual filling.

Yes, a reverse osmosis system is effective in removing limescale from water. Limescale, which is composed primarily of calcium and magnesium, is a contaminant found in hard water. As the water passes through the semi-permeable membrane of the reverse osmosis system, these minerals are retained, resulting in softer water that is free of scale deposits.
However, while a reverse osmosis removes limescale by retaining minerals such as calcium and magnesium, a water softener focuses specifically on reducing water hardness through a process of ion exchange. This is especially useful if you have significant problems with limescale buildup in appliances, faucets and pipes. If your main concern is limescale buildup, take a look at our water solution to protect your home.
